Welcome to the Lotus Challenge Series. My name is Jim Navarro and I have been a Lotus owner/enthusiast for over twenty years. Since the introduction of the Federal Elise and my subsequent purchase in 2004, I have participated in many HPDE throughout the Nevada Tri-state area. The Lotus Challenge Series is an effort to encourage Lotus owners to drive their cars in a competitive and controlled environment. A controlled environment is relative to the venue, corner workers, grid personnel and the event host. That is why I selected Speed Ventures to be the track organizer. I have personally participated with Speed Ventures for the past four years and have always found them to have the basic requirements of a safe event.
As for sponsorships, I have secured substantial sponsorships for this year. So far, the following companies have committed:
Our inaugural event will take place at “The home of the Lotus Challenge Series”, Spring Mountain Motor Sports Ranch in Pahrump , Nevada (fifty miles outside of Las Vegas ) on March 8th and 9th, 2008. Spring Mountain Motor Sports Ranch has an exhilarating 3.5 mile-road course which consists of various configurations, featuring exciting elements of the Long Beach Grand Prix Street Circuit, as well as one corner that is an exact duplicate of Moss Corner at the Mosport International Raceway in Ontario, Canada. Lotus drivers will find banked corners, blind drops (yip-eee), technical off camber and plenty of fast straight-aways. In addition, the Country Club is scheduled to open in early March. If we are lucky, this wonderful facility will be made available to us. Go to www.springmountainmotorsports.com for further information. In summary, I envision a year of great track events coupled with meeting other Lotus enthusiasts as myself. Of course, this would not be possible without the help of Jeff Wenger, webmaster, who graciously took on this on-going task of the website. In addition I would like to thank our committee members and my family for allowing me to pursue a Lotus challenge series. Sincerely, Jim Navarro President 777 Racing, Inc.
