Hello.
Welcome to the second year of the Lotus Challenge Series. My name is Jim Navarro and I have been a Lotus enthusiast for over 20 years. When the S2 Lotus came to the United States in 2004, I immediately bought one and drove it straight to the track. The only problem was that I was the only one tracking his Lotus. It seemed as though no organization had taken it upon themselves to put together a series. After much diliberation, I asked my friends, Jack Fried and Robb Bonanno, to help with the logistics of the series. Without them the series would have never gotten off the ground. Their dedication and hard work made the series what it is today.
In 2009, Tom Hughes became a partner in the Lotus challenge series to help grow the series and apply his extensive knowledge in racing.
Our first year was a success in offering a competitive series were Lotus owners could show off their cars and driving ability.  The success of this series is attributed to the great group of participants who endured the challenges of a first year series.  This year we will have 10 West Coast events including three new events, a SCCA school , Infineon and laguna Seca track events. In addition, I am working on a schedule of 4 events to be held in the South for 2009.

Our goals this year will reflect what we learned last year and are designed to continue to build the series and include:
* To offer quality events that encompass safety, competition, value and recognition.
* To continue the time trial series.
* To be open to our participants’ feedback/comments and to attempt to satisfy their needs and desires.
* To expand our series to the South.
* To have a year-end championship where West meets South.
* To continue the education process by requiring sanctioned racing licences to participate in the wheel-to-wheel races.
* To require the installation of safety equipment .
* To show off our Lotus cars.
* To have as much fun as possible .
* To seek out quality sponsors who give our participants prizes and recognition.

As of this date, this year’s sponsors include:
Lotus USA-Title sponsor
Sector 111
Lotus Newport European
Norm Baker Lotus
R3 Motorsports
Dynamic Racing Solutions
Hypersport
Toyo Tires
Audi of Henderson
Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch
Cleber Helmet Designs
Lotus Propulsion Laborotories aka LPL
Switchcars
I am also talking with several other sponsors who would like to participate as well.

Our fifth event of the 2009 season will take place at Laguna Seca in Monterrey,  California on July 16 and 17, 2009 and registration is now open on http://www.motorsportsreg.com
Stay tuned for our new rules book which will update minor changes of this year . In addition, a preview of our 2010 rules book will be out soon.
Looking forward, we just announced our sixth event of the season at Streets of willow on August 7th and registration is also open on http://www.motorsportsreg.com.  We are very excited to offer these events as part of the lotus challenge series.

Sincerely,
Jim Navarro
